Commentary: Go!
The chance to visit the town of Cheraw where jazz great Dizzie Gillespie was born and scores of antebellum homes line residential streets drew us to Cheraw State Park. To our delight, the campground sat on the banks of a beautiful lake. A trail wound around the shimmering water, showing off the natural setting from different angles. David got this awesome photo at dawn. During our two nights at the small campground (only 17 sites), we met several folks from South Carolina eager to share the inside scoop on places to see in the state.
