Jefferson County, Colorado, business guide business practices based on spirituality and universal prinicples. INFUSE YOUR BUSINESS WITH SPIRITUALITY

by Rose Muenker

Many businesses seek to guide their decisions and practices based on spirituality and universal principles. To support them, Business Honoring Spirituality (BHS) holds a weekly meeting at Mile Hi Church where professionals can connect, share business principles and practices, and help each other.

"The focus of BHS is the practice of universal principles that are basic to, but not exclusively, the teachings of the Science of Mind and Spirit," explains Rev. Lloyd Barrett, the church's ministerial liaison with BHS. "Principles supersede precedent."

In other words, the possibilities for your business are not limited by what happened in the past.

A key principle is this: The Universe is abundant. "Many people don't believe that because business emphasizes competition," says Rev. Lloyd, who draws on his previous experience as a pharmaceutical salesman and brewery wholesale rep. "Focusing on competition denies the opportunities for possibility thinking."

Reflecting on Einstein's statement, "Imagination is more important than knowledge," Rev. Lloyd shares a question that helps people bring spirituality into their business practices. "What are you imagining for your business? If the absolute wisdom of your business were giving you insights right now, what would it be saying?"

Rev. Lloyd summarizes the powerful impact of our thoughts on our lives by quoting Ernest Holmes, the founder of the Science of Mind and Spirit: "The creative mind takes the direct impression of our thoughts and acts upon it."

SUPPORTING WOMEN THROUGH STRESSFUL TIMES
Expressions of spirituality in business are as diverse as the business owners themselves. Marla Swanson, president of BHS, has had her holistic practice, Healthy Offerings, for several years. As a mother who faced divorce after 20 years of marriage, she knows first-hand the important role that good health plays in getting through stressful times.

Marla's personal experience catalyzed her desire to form a non-profit organization to provide a support system and non-legal resources for women going through divorce.

A large financial gift from a caring woman made Marla's dream a reality — the WilLiv Center, named after her children, William and Olivia.

Most of the women needing its support are stay-at-home moms facing a whole new life.

"I spent 30 hours with my first client," Marla recalls. She went with her to court four times, to help her file the restraining order and divorce papers, and to meet with the husband and mediator. "When you're in this situation, you need someone to believe in you and to lean on."

The organization seeks additional benefactors. "Three of my clients need cash right now just to help with the rent. They can't get a loan on their own. I know how terrifying that is," she adds, recalling the struggle to keep her own house. Marla (www.HealthyOfferings.com) draws upon her holistic health expertise to ease their stress.

HELPING PEOPLE FEEL GOOD ABOUT THEMSELVES
Stacey Davis, owner of Healthy Tans Spa &. Boutique, expresses spirituality in her business by creating and sustaining a gender-neutral neighborhood spa in Arvada known for its friendliness and good energy. Eight out of 10 customers are from the neighborhood, friends of friends or referrals.

She started out by doing airbrush tanning and is now Colorado's most experienced person in this field. In addition to a healthy alternative to tanning, her business offers spa services including European facials, laser hair removal, microdermabrasion, broken capillary removal and full body waxing.

Her mission is to help people without a lot of disposable income feel good about themselves. "We help them take care of their skin at a reasonable cost," Stacey adds. To support this goal, she has intentionally made her services more accessible to a wider clientele. She even offers a payment plan.

The facility also has a boutique featuring Croc products, a variety of unique items for women, and healthy, naturally decaffeinated coffee infused with an Asian mushroom to increase energy and support the immune system.

Stacey's vision for her business (www.HealthyTans.com) is to continue to expand, to get bigger and better. "I'm always on the lookout for the upcoming thing that's good."

RECONNECTING TO INCREASE PRODUCTIVITY AND WELL-BEING
A rollover accident with her two daughters in the car set Sabrina Fritts on the path to becoming a Reconnection™ practitioner. After receiving Reconnection therapy, she experienced a great sense of calm. Since then, she has lost her seasonal allergies, reduced her level of stress and is no longer a Type A controlling personality. Sabrina adds, "Basically, I had a character change. My beliefs, thoughts and actions became very different." By all appearances, Sabrina is a typical wife, homeowner and soccer mom. What the former human resources professional does business-wise, however, is atypical. In essence, Reconnection increases productivity, creativity and intuition. "It helps people perform at a higher level," Sabrina explains. The practice uses frequencies to access multiple dimensions and tap into the Universal Intelligence. Currently, the U.S. Olympic Figure Skating Team is using it for performance enhancement and recovery. Sabrina's vision is to take her Reconnection practice (www.SabrinaFritts.com) into the corporate world. "It improves general well-being. Ultimately companies will benefit through a reduction in health insurance claims and drug use, (resulting in) increased profits." Her voice filled with passion, Sabrina adds, "I am so grateful to be part of something so big that is healing people, animals and the planet."

CELEBRATING THE BEAUTY OF OUR WORLD
As a photographer and writer, David and Rose Muenker help businesses express their messages powerfully through words and images. "Every business has a unique story and perspective," Rose states. "We help them communicate those qualities."

David (www.DavidMuenker.com) also works with organizations and individuals to document key events, such as banquets, awards ceremonies and family gatherings. Rose (www.GetGreatResults.com) specializes in helping businesses turn their websites and printed materials into marketing tools that grab potential clients' interest.

The Muenkers also work together as a travel writer/photographer team. A few years ago they identified their life purpose — to add joy to people's lives by sharing the world's natural wonders and diverse cultural heritage through their writing and photography talents. In doing so, they focus on UNESCO World Heritage Sites. "They epitomize God's and man's greatest works," David explains.

That vision began unfolding with the development of two websites, www.OneWorldHeritage.com, which highlights sites they have visited, and www.WorldHeritagePointer.com, which features travel stories for children told through the adventures of a dog named Sonya.

"Our goal is a PBS travel series about World Heritage Sites," David says. "And empowering the economic well-being of the communities surrounding them," Rose adds, "especially in lesser developed countries."

Business Honoring Spirituality welcomes everyone. Meetings are held every Thursday from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. in the Mile Hi Church community center, 9079 W. Alameda Ave. For more information, visit www.bhsmilehi.org.
