"I love all types of shopping, from flea markets to rows of boutiques to large stores" says Stephanie Jackson, director of marketing for Continuum Partners' Belmar project. The combination of her background in retail development and her affinity for shopping make promoting Belmar's mixed use community of offices, residences, retail shops and entertainment a natural professional fit.
Jackson has been in the retail and marketing business for 17 years. She started her career in California with an advertising agency that specialized in shopping centers. While there, she gained experience working with its creative and advertising teams, as well as shopping center marketing directors. Later, she joined Irvine Spectrum Center, one of the first shopping centers to offer both retail and outdoor entertainment. She also worked with several small and large developers in management, specialty leasing and marketing.
In 2002, she moved to Colorado, where the Arizona native spent much of her childhood. "Colorado has more of a sense of home to me," she says. "I love everything about it — the people, the mountains." She worked at Park Meadows, as marketing manager, managing retailer and community relations, public relations, advertising and customer service.
Jackson found herself coming to Belmar to shop and always enjoyed the experience. "When I met the founder of Continuum Partners, Mark Falcone, it was easy to make the decision about the next step in my career," she says.
Being Belmar's director of marketing requires assessing and balancing the needs of a dynamic mixed-use community. Jackson continually asks herself a series of key questions. What is right for the people who live and work here? How should we reach out to new customers? How are we perceived in the Denver community?
"We want to wow our customers and keep them coming back," Jackson says. Belmar's fun signature events help accomplish this. Summer Sundays feature music on the plaza and a farmer's market. Festival Italiano launches the autumn season. The ice rink and holiday activities entertain visitors during winter. And a fashion event highlights spring.
Fun and eclectic, Belmar continues growing, expanding its offerings, and deepening a warm sense of community.
