World Heritage Website for Children Has Launched

Sonya, the World Heritage Pointer debuted June 3, 2005. This website for children explores individual World Heritage Sites through the adventures of a dog named Sonya. The premier story features Dinosaur Provincial Park in Alberta, Canada.

Each story has three episodes, which are posted concurrently with the e-zine on the first and third Friday of the month. The website also contains theme-related puzzles and games.

Children who subscribe to the e-zine have access to subscriber-only sections of the website, including Word Match, a vocabulary activity based on the story. They also have the opportunity to participate in contests relating to the stories. Prizes specific to the World Heritage Sites are awarded.

The purpose of both the website and e-zine is to increase the awareness and appreciation of World Heritage Sites. A side benefit is quality computer time shared by parents or grandparents with their youngsters.

It's easy to sign up for the World Heritage Pointer e-zine (Electronic Newsletter). It's FREE. Just enter your email address, hit "Go", and complete the sign up form.
